Blog: Privacy

Over the past ten years or so, as the uprise in new media products like social media, blogs, messengers, bots, augmented reality, etc have come about, there’s also been an awakening of breaches that have occurred.

Recent reports show that 60%+ of the adult populations in the United States have had some sort of personal data (whether that be name, social security numbers, birth dates, addresses, driver license numbers, etc) taken from them via the web and could potentially be in the hands of criminals. Major companies like Yahoo, MySpace, Equifax, Target, etc have been impacted and have had some sort of breach happen to them in which they didn’t even recognize.

That being said, privacy and confidentiality issues (especially on the web) are not a joke and in-fact a top concern for folks all across the board - financial services, politics, healthcare, technology and so on. Though there really isn’t one concrete solution, companies are trying to pour more and more money and resources into new software and facilities, so that they can ultimately help prevent breaches and phishing from happening. Many companies right now are experimenting with solutions like tokenization, big data encryption, and data access governance, so I’m curious to see the outcome of these operations as time goes on…
